Formation of the Street

Yevhena Konovaltsia Street is located in the Frankivskyi District of Lviv, in the historical area known as Novyi Svit. Until the early 19th century, this area was suburban, featuring private estates, villas, and parks. The district’s development accelerated after the introduction of the railway in Lviv in 1861. The street’s construction followed the city’s master plan under the supervision of chief architect Julian Zachariewicz. In 1992, the street was renamed in honor of Yevhen Konovalets, a colonel in the Ukrainian People’s Army and head of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists.
