Josse’s Villa

Street Formation

Barvinskykh Street is a small street in the Lychakivskyi District of Lviv, stretching from Dovbusha Street to the “Okhmatdyt” Children’s Clinical Hospital on Lysenka Street. It originated in the 1840s under the name Sviatoho Voitsekha Side Street, later known as Sobieshchyzna and Fürstengrund. In 1993, it was renamed in honor of the Barvinsky family—prominent Ukrainian public and cultural figures who lived at house No. 5. The street is lined with villas in the Art Nouveau and Neo-Gothic styles, and was historically home to government officials and members of the city’s intelligentsia.
