Formation of the Street
Arkhitektorska Street in Lviv has an intriguing history connected to the city’s urban development and architectural heritage. Located in the Halytskyi district, the street stretches northward from Stepana Bandery Street to Starosolskykh Street.
It was first mentioned in 1901 under the name Zachariewicz Street, honoring the renowned Lviv architect Julian Zachariewicz. During the German occupation, it was renamed Justus Liebiggasse, commemorating the German chemist Justus von Liebig. The street acquired its current name—Arkhitektorska—in 1946, emphasizing its connection with the city’s architectural community.
Today, Arkhitektorska Street retains its historical atmosphere and is part of Lviv’s architectural heritage. Its name and buildings reflect respect for the prominent architects who significantly contributed to the city’s development.
Architects and Architectural Styles
Building No. 5 on Arkhitektorska Street in Lviv is a former apartment townhouse built in 1905–1906 for Aniela Stelzer. The building was designed by architects Zygmunt Fedorski and Petro Tarnavetskyi in the late Art Nouveau style.
