Formation of the Street
Yuriy Mushak Street is located in the Lychakivskyi district of Lviv, in the historical area of Sofiyivka. Its formation took place at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th centuries as part of the city’s southeastern expansion. Initially, the street was named Dvernytskoho, and later it was renamed several times: Holonivska (1941), Badgasse (1943), Instytutska (1946), 30th Anniversary of Victory (1975). In 1991, it was renamed in honor of Yuriy Mushak, a Ukrainian linguist, translator, and educator.
The street’s development predominantly features residential buildings constructed in the styles of Secession and Constructivism. Many of these buildings are recognized as local architectural monuments.
Builders and Styles
Building No. 52 on Yuriy Mushak Street was constructed in 1913, designed by architects Henryk Zaremba and Marcin Chrzanowski. The building is executed in the late Secession style, characteristic of the early 20th century. This style is noted for its decorative elements, use of natural motifs, and asymmetry of forms.
