Formation of the Street
Olena Stepanivna Street is located in the Zaliznychnyi District of Lviv. It was laid out in 1895 and was originally named Kordeckyi Street, in honor of the abbot of the Jasna Góra Monastery who defended it against Swedish forces. In 1946, the street was renamed Leningradska, and in 1991 it received its current name in honor of Olena Stepaniv — a prominent Ukrainian civic and political figure and scholar.
