Residential Building

Formation of the Street

Stryiska Street is one of the main thoroughfares of Lviv, stretching from the city center to the south. Its formation began in the late 19th century when Lviv was actively expanding beyond its historical center. Initially, the street was part of the road leading to the city of Stryi, from which it derives its name. In the 1900s, the street began to be developed with residential buildings, villas, and public structures, many of which have survived to this day.

In 1907–1908, the firm of Ivan Levynskyi constructed buildings No. 18 and No. 20 in the rational Secession style. These buildings became part of a new architectural wave that swept through Lviv at the beginning of the 20th century. Subsequently, the street continued to develop, with new buildings appearing, including residential complexes, administrative buildings, and other infrastructure facilities.

Characteristic features of this style include geometric ornaments, asymmetrical facades, and the use of modern building materials of the time.
