Formation of the Street
Teatralna Street is located in the historic center of Lviv, near Rynok Square. Its name derives from the nearby theater, highlighting the cultural significance of this part of the city. The street was formed during the medieval period and has retained its historical character to this day.
Builders and Styles
Building No. 6 was constructed between 1909 and 1911 based on a competition project by architect Tadeusz Nowakowski. The construction was carried out by Adolf Piller, and the building’s metal structures were designed by Zygmunt Piotrowicz. The architecture combines elements of Art Nouveau with Neo-Gothic details, giving it a distinctive and elegant appearance.
Who Was the Owner?
Originally, the building belonged to Countess Zofia Lasocka. Over time, ownership changed, especially during the city’s historical transformations. During the Soviet period, the building became state property, and after Ukraine gained independence, its status may have changed in accordance with legislative reforms.
What Does the Building Look Like?
The building is four stories high with a prominent facade adorned with decorative elements. The central part of the facade features a balcony with wrought-iron railings and stained glass. The stained-glass ceiling in the interior adds a special charm to the building. Architectural details such as decorative cornices and stucco emphasize the Art Nouveau style.
