Street Formation

Kostyushka Street in Lviv was laid out in the 1820s and initially bore the name of General F. Frenel. In 1871, it was renamed in honor of Tadeusz Kościuszko, a Polish national hero, participant in the American Revolutionary War, and leader of the 1794 uprising. The street connects Doroshenka Street with Hryhorenka Square and is part of Lviv’s historic center. Its architecture features styles such as classicism, historicism, and Viennese Secession, creating a unique architectural ensemble.

Building No. 3 on Kostyushka Street was constructed in 1909, designed by architect Michał Ulam. The architecture combines elements of Secession and Neo-Renaissance, characteristic of Lviv’s early 20th-century buildings.
