Formation of the Street

Ivana Kotliarevskoho Street is located in the historic Kastelivka district, which began to develop actively at the end of the 19th century. Initially, the street was named Nabielaka, in honor of Polish poet Ludwik Nabielak. During the German occupation in 1942, it was renamed Schillergasse. In 1944, the previous name was restored, and in 1946, it received its current name — in honor of Ivan Kotliarevsky, a Ukrainian writer and playwright.

The street’s development features various architectural styles, predominantly Viennese Secession, historicism, modernism, and functionalism. Most buildings are listed in the Register of Local Architectural Monuments of Lviv.

The facades are characterized by vertical divisions with pilasters adorned with reliefs. The western side facade is symmetrical, featuring a central entrance. The building has a rectangular plan with projecting risalits, and a small enclosed courtyard is situated within.
