Formation of the Street

Ivan Levynskyi Street is located in the Frankivskyi district of Lviv, in the historical area of Kastelivka. This neighborhood was developed in the late 19th and early 20th centuries as an elite residential area with picturesque villas and abundant greenery. The development of Kastelivka was a joint project of architects Ivan Levynskyi and Julian Zachariewicz, who aimed to create a comfortable living environment by combining the advantages of urban and suburban life. They avoided typical tenement buildings, favoring individual designs, aligning with the garden city concept popular in Europe at the time.

The street was named after Ivan Levynskyi, a prominent Ukrainian architect, entrepreneur, and philanthropist who made significant contributions to Lviv’s architectural development. Previously, the street had other names, including Kshyzova Side Street and Sodova, reflecting its historical development and functional purpose.
