Formation of the Street
Lysenko Street is located in the central part of Lviv, to the east of the historic city center. Its formation began in the mid-19th century on the site of an old road known as the Upper Hlyniany Route. Initially, the street was called Strilnytska, due to the presence of a shooting range operated by the Kurkowe Brotherhood—a city militia association involved in military training. In 1871, the street was renamed Kurkova, and in 1945 it received its current name in honor of the Ukrainian composer Mykola Lysenko.
The street is primarily lined with residential buildings constructed in the styles of historicism, Neo-Renaissance, and Secession. Among them are buildings No. 2, 4, 5, 9, and 17, which are recognized as architectural monuments of local significance.
