Formation of the Street
Mahazynova Street is located in the Zaliznychnyi district of Lviv, in the Pryvokzalna area. Its name originates from the commercial warehouses that were concentrated in this area at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th centuries. Mahazynova Street was officially approved in 1913 as part of a new planning grid that encompassed the area near the railway station and military barracks.
Prior to this, the area belonged to the southern edge of the historical Klepariv district and remained sparsely populated due to the dominance of military infrastructure. In the 1840s, imperial-royal artillery barracks were located here, and nearby squares were used for drill exercises. After the construction of the railway station in 1861 and the intensification of railway connections, the area began to change its functional purpose. Gradually, residential and commercial streets were formed here for railway workers, small traders, and craftsmen. The development of the street is associated with the general modernization of urban space and the active expansion of Lviv in the south-western direction at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries.
