The restoration of the Art Nouveau metal entrance gate at 6 Olena Stepanivna Street has been completed. The works began in October.

During the restoration, many previously hidden details were uncovered. Due to extremely thick layers of paint, some decorative elements had long remained invisible — including certain appliqués, whose existence had been difficult even to suspect. It was also only during the restoration process that it became clear that the floral elements of the gate were made of brass, as they too had been entirely covered with paint.

Restorer Yurko Mykolayishyn discovered, while removing the paint layers, that these floral details were made of brass. Over the course of the work, numerous decorative elements — particularly appliqués — were revealed, restored, and returned to their original positions.

In addition, the gate was in poor technical condition: the glazing had been completely lost, the threshold was rotten, and the frame of the gate was heavily corroded up to a height of about one meter from the ground. As part of the restoration, the glazing was reinstated, damaged elements were repaired, and the structure was brought back to proper condition.

A door intercom system was also installed at the residents’ expense. Importantly, the wiring connecting the electromagnetic lock to the gate frame was carefully concealed, preserving the visual integrity of the gate.

The total cost of the restoration amounted to UAH 126,006.06.
The residents’ contribution was UAH 37,801.82.
UAH 88,204.24 (70%) was financed within the “Art Nouveau as a New EUtopia” project.
