On June 5, an exhibition of children’s artwork and an award ceremony for participants and winners of the children’s drawing competition “Draw Me Lviv” took place in Lviv. The competition was held within the framework of the international project “Art Nouveau: A New Utopia. How the Past Can Become a Bridge to a Sustainable Future”, implemented by the Heritage Bureau of Lviv in partnership with the Culture Department of the Lviv City Council.
Over the course of several weeks, students from Lviv schools reimagined the city through art — its architecture, decorative details, streets, squares, and unique atmosphere. For some, Lviv appeared in the form of a familiar townhouse or historic gateway; for others, it was expressed through colors, ornaments, personal emotions, and memories.
A total of 111 artworks were submitted to the competition, each telling its own story about Lviv — vibrant, historic, warm, and inspiring. The exhibition brings together the best drawings from participants across different age groups and demonstrates how children and young people see and experience the city today.
During the event, winners of the competition were honored, and all participants received recognition. Every child was awarded a diploma and a gift as a token of appreciation for their creativity, dedication, and interest in Lviv’s cultural heritage.
The exhibition serves not only as the culmination of the competition but also as a reminder of the importance of preserving cultural heritage. Heritage is not limited to buildings or decorative elements; it is the memory of a city, its stories, atmosphere, and the connection between generations.
The organizers express their sincere gratitude to the event partners for supporting the competition and the award ceremony. Special thanks go to the Culture Department of the Lviv City Council, the publishing house Svichado, and the Ukrainian children’s creativity brand Zibi for providing gifts for participants, as well as to Brok for printing the exhibition banners.
The exhibition became one of the events of the World Art Nouveau Days in Lviv and once again demonstrated that love for the city, its history, and its architecture begins at an early age and finds vivid expression in the creativity of young Lviv residents.
The exhibition “Draw Me Lviv” will remain open to the public until June 25 on the outdoor exhibition stands near the King Danylo Monument. Residents and visitors alike are invited to discover Lviv through the eyes of children — sincere, colorful, and full of inspiration.
