An old kitchen cabinet can tell more stories than a history textbook.

Today, the exhibition “Galicia Gastronomica” opened at the Art Library, exploring the culture of the Galician table from the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.

How does global culture find its way into a Lviv apartment kitchen? The patterns of blue-and-white porcelain reveal a journey from Chinese workshops through the Netherlands and Saxony to the cupboard of a Galician homemaker. Forgotten table utensils, whose purpose is often difficult to identify today, preserve traces of everyday rules, habits, and rituals that once seemed completely ordinary.

Through porcelain, tiles, packaging, kitchen containers, recipes, and tableware, the exhibition invites visitors to see everyday life as an archive—an archive of tastes, knowledge, and memories. It is an opportunity to rediscover how objects can tell stories and reveal connections that often remain hidden.

We sincerely thank the Art Library, curator Maria Stefanyshyn, all collectors, researchers, and contributors who helped create this unique exhibition. Special thanks to everyone who joined us for the opening as part of the World Art Nouveau Days in Lviv.

📍 The exhibition runs until 26 July 2026 at 8 Shota Rustaveli Street, Lviv.
