Over the course of five days, participants worked on preserving an early 20th-century wooden gate — studying theory, gaining hands-on practice, and facing real restoration challenges.

The program was rich and comprehensive. We discussed heritage protection legislation, restoration ethics, the principles of the DOBA system, documentation basics, and research approaches.
And in the workshop, participants spent hours working with the wood — uncovering its authenticity layer by layer and bringing life back to details hidden for decades.

Participants:

– learned safe work practices;
– removed overpaint and foreign inserts;
– cleaned surfaces and carried out biocidal and fire-retardant treatment;
– reconstructed damaged wooden elements;
– strengthened structural joints and filled cracks and splits;
– acquired essential competencies of modern scientific restoration.

It was an intensive program where each day brought a new tool, a new skill, and a deeper understanding of what responsible heritage preservation truly means.
And we are incredibly proud of everyone who walked this path with us ❤️

As promised, we’re sharing more photos from the process — because in restoration, it’s the details that tell the story best.
