As part of the World Art Nouveau Days in Lviv, a special day dedicated to the remarkable figure of Solomiya Krushelnytska took place. The celebrated Ukrainian opera singer’s life and artistic career were deeply connected with the Art Nouveau era and the cultural atmosphere of La Belle Époque.
Throughout the day, participants had the opportunity to discover a new perspective on early twentieth-century Lviv and immerse themselves in a period when art, architecture, music, and fashion shaped a new vision of beauty.
The day began with the walking tour “Through the Art Nouveau Sites of Lviv,” led by Anna Yakymyshyn. Participants explored the city’s architectural gems and learned fascinating stories about the buildings and people who shaped Lviv’s unique character at the turn of the century.

The program continued with the museum tour “Solomiya Krushelnytska: A Life in the Art Nouveau Style,” guided by Danuta Bilavych. Visitors gained deeper insight into the singer’s extraordinary life, her international career, and the cultural trends that influenced both her artistic journey and personal world.

The day concluded with a lecture by Ivan Dudych, “Solomiya Krushelnytska in the World of La Belle Époque: Lina Cavalieri, Sarah Bernhardt, Carolina Otero, and Cléo de Mérode.” Participants explored the vibrant cultural landscape of the early twentieth century and learned about the outstanding women of the era, as well as Solomiya Krushelnytska’s place among the most prominent artistic figures of her time.
We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the Solomiya Krushelnytska Music-Memorial Museum, the lecturers, and the guides for these inspiring and insightful events, and to all participants for their interest in the history, culture, and heritage of Lviv.
Through events like these, we not only deepen our understanding of the Art Nouveau era but also discover its lasting connection to the present through the lives and achievements of those who helped shape world culture and brought recognition to Ukraine far beyond its borders.
