This year, Lviv officially celebrated the World Secession Days for the first time. The events took place from June 8 to 11 and aimed to introduce the city’s residents and guests to Lviv’s modern heritage. More than 150 people participated in the events.
The program included workshops, tours, and lectures. Visitors had the opportunity to take part in glass art workshops, attend fascinating lectures and an exhibition, learn about the city’s street lighting, and join tours of locations not typically accessible to the public. For the youngest participants, Lviv Chocolate Workshop prepared an educational workshop.
“We are extremely pleased that our events sparked such interest and attracted so many people. This shows that the theme of Secession is relevant and interesting for our community. It’s not just an event for our city, but an opportunity to showcase our unique heritage to the world and develop cultural dialogue on a European level. The importance of such events lies in raising awareness about the cultural heritage of Lviv, our region, and our country, as well as creating new opportunities for tourism and international cooperation. We aim to hold such events annually,” noted the Lviv Heritage Bureau.
As a reminder, the event took place within the framework of the project “Art Nouveau as a New Euro-Utopia. How the Past Can Be a Bridge to a Sustainable Future.” This project unites 12 partners – members of the Réseau Art Nouveau Network (RANN) and is implemented with the support of the European Commission’s Education, Audiovisual, and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA). The project’s partners in Ukraine include the Center for Urban History and Lviv Polytechnic National University.
