A volunteer camp for students – future architects and conservators – has started in Lviv.
The first day of the volunteer camp “Architecture of Lviv Secession – Research” marked the opening of the World Art Nouveau Days in Lviv.

The event is organized by the Fundamenty Kultury Foundation and the National Institute of Polish Cultural Heritage Abroad POLONIKA, with the support of the Heritage Protection Office and LKP “Heritage Bureau”.
Participants attended a series of lectures:
- Yulia Bohdanova spoke about the development of the Art Nouveau style in Lviv
- Iwona Bartnik outlined the objectives and significance of restoration research
- Sylwia Sworova-Pawelkowicz shared the theoretical foundations of stratigraphic analysis
- Anna Kudzia introduced the rules for registering heritage monuments
In the afternoon, the first field session took place in the townhouse at 4 Bohomoltsia Street, where participants began practical research of facade décor and structural elements of the building.
Ahead for the participants:
- a session on material science and technical documentation of heritage (speakers: Sylwia Sworova-Pawelkowicz and Hubert Kosiniec)
- continued work in the historical townhouse
- a visit to the site of Ivan Levynskyi’s factory, a key figure in the history of Lviv’s Art Nouveau
- a tour of a stone restoration workshop and a public wrap-up discussion
This is already the second volunteer camp organized with financial support from the POLONIKA Institute. The first took place in 2022 and was dedicated to modernist architecture, focusing on research of the townhouse at 10 Saksahanskoho Street.
The camp will run until June 7 and will be one of the key educational events of the Art Nouveau Days in Lviv.
