A series of memorial events dedicated to the work of Tadeusz Obminski will be held in Lviv

April 6, 2024 marks the 150th anniversary of the birth of Tadeusz Obminskyi (1874–1932), a leading master of Lviv architecture in the first third of the last century, a professor at the Lviv Polytechnic, a leading designer of Lviv Art Nouveau buildings and, at the same time, a researcher of folk wooden construction. Tadeusz/Tadej Obminskyi left his mark in history as an outstanding representative of the Lviv school of architecture, an architect of the European level – and as a characteristic figure in the culture of the Ukrainian-Polish border region.

Celebrating this anniversary, the Faculty of Humanities of the Ukrainian Catholic University in partnership with the LKP “Heritage Bureau”, the Scientific and Technical Library of the NU “Lviv Polytechnic”, the Heritage Bureau in Lviv and the Lviv Municipal Art Center organizes a program of memorial events, which will include the following events:

April 16 – a tour of the house of the “Dniester” society on the street Ruska, 20 (meeting of participants – at 6:00 p.m. at the corner of Ruska and Pidvalnaya Streets near the entrance to the Lviv Tourist Office);

May 3 – lecture-presentation at the Scientific and Technical Library of Lviv Polytechnic University, str. Professorska, 1 (start at 5:30 p.m.);

May 9 – lecture-presentation at the Lviv Municipal Art Center, str. Stefanyka, 11 (starts at 6 p.m.).

Participation in all events is free, access is free. Attendance at the lecture on May 9 requires registration through the form on the LMMC website (https://www.lvivart.center/).
